Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course covers computer and information technology concept that are a must in modern management of construction projects and processes.  Areas covered include relevant computer concepts, operating systems, software design and programming, and computer applications. Also covered is application of computer systems to control operations in the building industry and introduction to software for planning, scheduling and estimating that is generally used in the construction industry.

 

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

To course will expose students to the application of computer systems to control operations in the building industry. Introduction to commercially available software for planning, scheduling and estimating that is generally used in the construction industry

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

·        Understand and use Computer and Information Technology in the construction management projects and processes.

·        Get exposed to the concept of building information modelling

·        Acquire more knowledge on the use of CAD and GIS in construction

·        Understand web based tendering

A student on completing this course is expected to:
