Course Description

In Urban planning and management course, the students will be informed of the causes of urbanization, historical perspective of urbanization in Africa, types of planning, the need for planning for urban centers, challenges of planning, waste management, water supply and sanitation and the structural adjustment programs on urban planning and management.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course is intended to:

  • Expose the students¬† to the urbanization processes and planning for urban areas.
  • Enable students explain the urbanization process in Africa
  • Enable students explain what planning is and why it is necessary to plan
  • Identify the challenges of planning in Africa

By the end of the course, the student should be in position to;
