Course Description


The course offers a foundation stone on which any work in an area affected by conflict can be build. It exposes scholars to wider areas of development challenges to which urgent attention with durable peace is desired.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course is intended to enable students be able to;

  • To design frameworks for conflict intervention in communities
  • To identify and address post conflict challenges in communities
  • To analyze major causes of conflicts in the African setting today
  • To devise short, intermediate and long term solutions to the problem of conflicts in Africa.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course unit, students should be able to:

  • Design frameworks for conflict intervention in communities
  • Identify and address post conflict challenges in communities
  • Analyze major causes of conflicts in the African setting today
  • Devise short, intermediate and long term solutions to the problem of conflicts in Africa.
  • Design and implement conflict related early warning systems in communities.
