Course Description

This course is about projects and their contribution to the development process. The course will therefore expound on the concept of projects in contributing to development or/ under development of individuals or nations at personal, local, national, regional and international levels. The course will enable students to grasp the concept that project management and decisions are central in influencing and shaping the course of development. 

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Expound on the concept of project life cycle, needs assessment, project specification, practical application of project designing, project monitoring and project evaluation, project planning & civil society organizations as well as project funding.

·         Analyze the key political, economic and social aspects in influencing and shaping projects and eventual contribution to the development process.

·         Analyses the requirements for effecting right, proper and adequate planning and management of projects and institutional framework for the entire society in a manner that will most efficiently bring out the fruits of development to the broadest segments of its populations.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, the students should be able to articulate at large the concept of project life cycle, needs assessment, project specification, practical application of project designing, project monitoring and project evaluation, project planning & civil society organizations as well as project funding. Students shouls also be able to identify the requirements for effecting proper and adequate planning and management of projects.
