Course Description

The course covers topics that help a learner understand what Non Governmental Organizations are, and to put them in their historical context.  It examines the typology of NGOs, the proliferation of NGOs with particular reference to Uganda, examines the constraints and comparative advantage.  The course also looks at different development perspectives, defines poverty, and looks at the contributions NGOs have made to stimulate development, and NGOs relationship with government. The course also examines strategies NGOs use to increase their influence and effectiveness.

COURSE AIM

The course is concerned to impart in students the ability to examines the typology of NGOs, the proliferation of NGOs with particular reference to Uganda, examine the constraints and comparative advantage.
