Course Description

This course will examine contemporary issues in economic development and the implications of the dominant global institutions to the developing world. The course will also examine institutions and structures in society that influence resource allocation, distribution, exchange and consumption at household, community, national and international levels.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course unit students should be able to;

  • Analyse the nexus between market and the state in development discourse 
  • Understand contemporary issues in economic development and the implications of the dominant global institutions to the developing world
  • Identify theoretical perspectives for their research topics.
