Human Rights And Development
The course exposes students to the theoretical, historical and contemporary aspects of human rights as claimed for world over throughout human history. This will give them grounding to reasonably demand for and protect human rights. In society there are various cases of vulnerabilities followed by human rights violations. Therefore the course will provide students with the basis to defend vulnerable persons’ rights and provide a basis for advocacy strategies.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course students should be able to:
- Identify and understand issues of human rights violations in general
- Rightly demand for and protect rights for their own sake but also for vulnerable groups
- Recognize and take up their responsibilities in promotion of human rights as a key aspect of the human development process.
