Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course explains the principles of power quality definitions and standards, automatic power quality measurement, energy efficiency reporting, energy management system design, operations and the role of each component of the ENMS system. The course covers Power Quality standards, load characteristics, energy efficiency, communication systems for energy efficiency, large scale energy efficiency deployment in the plant and the power factor and harmonics effects on the power saving.

 

COURSE JUSTIFICATION/RATIONALE

 

To enable the students, gain knowledge on factors involved in the operation and control of power systems and to learn the control of power system using digital computers.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

1.      Outline the  decisions on Energy efficiency strategy

2.      Explain the energy data locally and remotely

3.      Troubleshoot problems in the plant due to Power Quality

4.      Appreciate energy saving from Power Quality perspective
