  • Perspective on the IUCN protected Areas category management systems: introduction; aspects of land characteristics of particular regions of the world
  • International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) considerations of protected areas category systems
  • Limitations of IUCN management categorizations of protected areas: overall protected areas designation process, regional planning context, management effectiveness, changing categorizations, transparency in decision making, inconsistency in jurisdictions

The state of protected areas in Africa: case studies of East Africa (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania) and Western Africa
