Course Description

Course description:

This course explores the practical elements of computer based system administration. Topics include: file management system, user management, connectivity, security, troubleshooting, archiving, backing up, directory services, remote administration, access control lists, etc.

 Prerequisites:

 Networking and Operating Systems

 

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Install the Linux operating system, and apply operating system updates, and configuration changes.
  2. Install and configure new hardware/software
  3. Manage user accounts
  4. Perform backups of data
  5. Assess system security
  6. Troubleshoot system configuration problems
  7. Tune system performance
  8. Utilize scripting languages for task automation
