DR. SURAT OLABISI AKIB is the Deputy Executive Director, and a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, at the Kampala International University – Teaching Hospital (KIU-TH). She is also an Assoc. Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Medicine and Dentistry. Prior to that, Dr. Akib lectured in the School of Allied Health Sciences, and in the School of Postgraduate Studies & Research at KIU. She has also been a Senior Medical Officer – Haematology and Blood Transfusion at the Pathology Department
She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Kampala International University-Western Campus (KIU-WC) in Bushenyi, a Master of Public Health (MPH) and Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management (PGDHM) both from the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos in Nigeria, a Diploma in Clinical Pathology (DCP)-Haematology & Immunology from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in Hammersmith-London, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) and Bachelor of Science (B Sc.) from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Obafemi Awolowo University. She also holds a Certificate in Computer Science and a Certificate in Computer Applications from the Kampala International University, and certificates of achievement for Certificate in Computer Applications, Advanced Health Research Ethics, and Basic Good Clinical Practice.
She is a Member of the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council, the Nigerian Medical Association, the Medical Women’s’ Association of Nigeria, and the Ugandan Medical and Dental Council.
