Exploring the Role of Data Analytics in Enhancing Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria
The healthcare system in Nigeria faces numerous challenges, including limited infrastructure, a shortage of skilled professionals, and inefficient resource management. Despite these challenges, the increasing adoption of data analytics presents a transformative opportunity to enhance healthcare delivery. Data analytics, which involves the systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data, has the potential to improve patient care, optimize resource allocation, and predict health outcomes. However, the integration of data analytics into Nigeria's healthcare system remains in its early stages, hindered by inadequate infrastructure, fragmented data systems, and a lack of skilled professionals. This review explores the role of data analytics in addressing the inefficiencies within Nigeria's healthcare system. It examines the applications of data analytics in improving decision-making, operational efficiency, disease surveillance, and personalized healthcare. The study also identifies the challenges impeding the widespread adoption of data analytics, including infrastructure limitations, data privacy concerns, and the need for capacity-building in data analysis. Ultimately, the paper provides recommendations for overcoming these challenges to leverage data analytics for better healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
