Overhauling Nigeria’s Economy through Skill Acquisition
Economic recession has serious negative impacts on government revenue, employment, income vulnerability, inflation, human health, infrastructural supply, poverty and natural resource management in Nigeria. The result isevident in firms folding up due to dramatic decline in domestic industrial production as a result of insufficientraw materials and spare parts. Recovery and sustained economic development are desirable, but presently, Nigeriais a dependent capitalist economy. As a result, there is need for government to strengthen the anti-corruptionagencies in the country. This can be achieved by way of special legislations, laws and special courts that willfacilitate the prosecution of corrupt officials. The anti-corruption agencies should equally beam their search lighton management of schools, school administrators, teachers and even students who are engaged in corruptpractices as this will help reduce the menace and improve the quality of education. Also, government should becommitted towards improving funding for the learning institutions. Management and Departments ofOffice Technology and Management in particular should look beyond funding from government and engagein revenue generation through training, research.
