Factors Influencing Exclusive Breastfeeding in Lactating Mothers Attending Kaabong District Hospital in Kaabong District

This study aimed to evaluate the factors influencing exclusive breastfeeding amonglactating mothers at Kaabong district hospital. A total of 93 mothers were recruited using asimple random sampling technique. STATA software was used for data analysis, and crudeodds ratios were used to determine the level of significance. The majority of participantswere aged 18-25, married, and had no formal education. The majority of participantsexclusively breastfed their children. Factors influencing exclusive breastfeeding includedthe mother's age and education level. Barriers to exclusive breastfeeding included themother's positive HIV status and insufficient breast milk production. The exclusivebreastfeeding rate at Kaabong General Hospital falls above the World Health Organization'srecommended level. To maintain this high rate, breastfeeding promotion messages shouldbe provided to mothers to raise awareness about the benefits of exclusive breastfeedingusing mass media. The study highlights the need for further support for exclusivebreastfeeding among lactating mothers in the area
