KIU Trivia: April 13 in the Present and the Past

PROF. TAYO OLADIRAN ARULOGUN is a smart and astute
manager of peopleware, hardware and software. He is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs at Kampala International University (KIU). He is a
Professor of Computer System Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of
Technology (LAUTECH), Nigeria.
Tayo Arulogun holds a Doctorate and a
Masters degree in Computer Science; Microprocessor and Control Engineering from
LAUTECH and University of Ibadan in 2009 and 2004 respectively. He was a
research fellow at Hasso Platnner Institute for Computer System Engineering,
Germany in the year 2012. He has supervised and mentored many Masters and PhD
students who are key decision-makers in industry, government and the academia.Some
mentoring of students have yielded positive results: The 2013 global finalist
of the Microsoft Imagine Cup for innovation (Russia, 2013); Winner of 2014 Middle East and African Region, Google Online Marketing Challenge; 2015 Middle
East and African Region finalist of Google Online Marketing Challenge;
incubation and floating of start-up company named Sanwo Touch2Pay Solutions
Limited in the year 2017 that leveraged on some results of researches on RFID
communications. He is a co-founder of Striving for Greatness EdTech Initiative,
a non-profit organization that focuses on how to educate, empower and inspire
educators globally.
He rose through the rank from graduate
assistant in the year 2001 to a full professor in the year 2016 garnering
administrative experiences ranging from Level Advisor, Departmental
Examinations Officer, member of the Departmental Postgraduate Committee,
Coordinator of Computer Engineering laboratories, Member, COREN BMAS Committee
for Computer Engineering, Member of the Local Organizing Committee for FET
Conference, Acting Director, LAUTECH ICT Center, Member, University Strategic
Plan Committee, Implementation Committee on Computer-Based Examinations,
Member, Implementation Committee LAUTECH Open and Distance Learning Center
(LODLC), Director of LODLC and many more.
Tayo is a consultant in the areas of system
design, integration, deployment and management of large and complex ICT based
systems. He is a key advocate of self-sustainability of information management
systems irrespective of size and complexity. He has extensive theoretical and
practical knowledge of implementing and managing open and distance learning
platforms at large scale.He was the lead in the design, implementation and
integration of computer-based learning and testing facilities for some
Universities in the year 2012. He was the Team Lead that deployed an enhanced
Computer-Based Testing (CBT) platform with a Biometric Authentication feature
that helped LAUTECH to reduce examinations related cost and reduction in
examinations malpractices in the year 2014. The lead in the design and
deployment of educational portal project that serves more than 35,000 students
yearly. The portal has been able to block fund leakages and for payment
collections of over 45 million US Dollars since the year 2012.
Tayo belongs to the following
professional and regulatory bodies, Computer Professionals Registration Council
of Nigeria, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN),
Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE). At his free time,
he enjoys traveling and visiting interesting places.
He brings a lot of wealth of experience
to KIU.
