KIU's Flexible Program Made It Possible to Balance Work & Study

By Dr. Joseph Tindyebwa

KIU, MAIN CAMPUS: I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the founders of Kampala International University (KIU), under the wise leadership of Chairperson Board of Trustees, Al Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba. The university's active management and highly qualified academic staff have been instrumental in shaping my vision and dreams.

In 2007, I enrolled in KIU's postgraduate program in Public Administration and Management, which was designed to accommodate working professionals like myself. At the time, I was serving as a Sub County Chief in Kabale District Local Government, a position I had held since 2004. The program's modular system allowed me to balance my studies with my work responsibilities, and I was able to complete my degree without having to resign or take study leave.

My experience at KIU has been truly transformative. The university's commitment to providing high-quality education has enabled me to become a professional public administrator and governance expert. In 2020-2021, I had the privilege of serving as a Principal Policy Analyst at the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda on a one-year contract.

KIU has also given me the confidence to pursue my political aspirations. I contested for the Rubanda East parliamentary seat in 2010 and 2022, and later ran for the East Africa Legislative Assembly on an independent ticket.

One of the things that sets KIU apart is its commitment to academic excellence and integrity. When I completed my PhD in 2012, there were attempts to undermine our achievements, but the National Council of High Education granted full international recognition to our degrees.

Today, I am proud to say that I am a Senior Lecturer at KIU, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree. I have also had the opportunity to serve East Africa countries through community contributions, research, teaching, and publishing books and journal articles nationally and internationally.

I highly recommend KIU to anyone seeking a world-class education. The university's conducive environment, coupled with its commitment to academic excellence and freedom of worship, makes it an ideal institution for anyone looking to realize their dreams and fulfill their career aspirations.

As the Bible says, "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." I firmly believe that KIU's commitment to freedom of worship is the reason for its success.
