Assoc. Prof Veerabhadrappa Kasturi

Associate Professor Kasturi Vishwanathasetty Veerabhadrappa is the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Kampala International University, where he provides strategic leadership in pharmaceutical education, curriculum development, research, quality assurance, and academic administration. He is committed to advancing excellence in pharmacy education through innovation, interdisciplinary research, and industry collaboration.
With over 20 years of academic, research, and leadership experience across Uganda, Ethiopia, and India, Associate Professor Veerabhadrappa has held several senior positions in higher education, including Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Research Coordinator, and Associate Professor. His extensive experience has contributed significantly to academic programme development, postgraduate supervision, institutional governance, and research capacity building.
He holds a PhD in Pharmacognosy, a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmacognosy, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm). His research interests focus on pharmacognosy, herbal medicine standardisation, phytochemistry, natural product drug discovery, nanotechnology-based drug delivery, and rational medicine use. He has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications and has successfully secured and managed research grants supporting pharmaceutical research and professional training.
An experienced researcher, mentor, and academic leader, Associate Professor Veerabhadrappa has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects while contributing to curriculum development, professional training, and scholarly publishing. Through his leadership, he continues to strengthen pharmaceutical education, research excellence, and innovation, preparing future pharmacists to address emerging healthcare challenges in Uganda and beyond.
