Dr. Gidraf Joseph Wanjala is the Principal of the College of Education, Open and Distance Learning at Kampala International University, where he provides strategic leadership in academic administration, programme development, quality assurance, and the delivery of flexible and technology-enabled learning. He is committed to expanding access to quality higher education through innovative teaching, research, and learner-centred educational practices.
With over 30 years of experience in education, academic leadership, and institutional management, Dr. Wanjala has served in senior positions across Africa and the United States, including Principal, Acting Dean, Head of Department, Senior Lecturer, and education administrator. His extensive international experience spans universities, secondary education, teacher training, curriculum development, and online learning, providing him with a broad perspective on educational leadership and innovation.
Dr. Wanjala holds a PhD in Education Management, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. His research interests focus on educational management, higher education policy, quality assurance, educational leadership, inclusive education, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and actively supervises Master's and PhD students in educational management.
An accomplished educator, researcher, and mentor, Dr. Wanjala has contributed significantly to curriculum development, postgraduate supervision, teacher professional development, and institutional capacity building. Through his leadership and scholarship, he continues to strengthen open and distance learning while promoting academic excellence, innovation, and lifelong learning at Kampala International University.
