Prof Joshua Olusegun Okeniyi
Director, Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions
Professor Joshua Olusegun Okeniyi is the Director of Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions (RICE) at Kampala International University, where he provides strategic leadership in advancing the University's research agenda, innovation ecosystem, consultancy services, knowledge transfer, and industry partnerships. He is also a Professor of Mechanical Engineering with extensive experience in engineering research, academic leadership, and international collaboration.
Professor Okeniyi is an internationally acclaimed researcher whose work spans materials engineering, sustainable energy, corrosion science, advanced manufacturing, and engineering innovation. He has consistently been ranked among the world's leading researchers in his field, including recognition as one of the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide by the Stanford University/Elsevier rankings and the No. 1 global researcher in corrosion inhibition research by SciVal metrics over multiple years.
With an accomplished academic career spanning universities across Africa and beyond, he has served as Professor, Head of Department, postgraduate supervisor, external examiner, and research mentor. He has successfully secured competitive international research grants, supervised numerous Master's and PhD candidates, and authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international journals.
A registered engineer and member of several international professional bodies, Professor Okeniyi is passionate about fostering interdisciplinary research, innovation, commercialization, and global academic partnerships. Through his leadership, he continues to strengthen Kampala International University's research excellence, innovation capacity, and international visibility while promoting impactful research that addresses societal and industrial challenges.
