KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mouhamad Mpezamihigo has asked the government to provide a financial stimulus for higher education institutions, before re-opening for finalists.

Dr Mpezamihigo in his remarks at the Uganda Vice Chancellors Forum meeting that was held last week through video conferencing technology said, ''We ask the government to partner with us because the lockdown didn't only affect our parents and guardians financially but also the university administration.''

"If the institutions are bailed out, they will have value added on the quality of education that is provided by universities,” he added.

Dr Cannon John Ssenyonyo, the Chairperson of Uganda Vice Chancellors forum said this government support is eagerly anticipated because even some universities had resorted to laying off most staff by terminating their appointment letters due to financial crises.
