The Ministry of Health has announced 11 new COVID-19 cases from 2,575 tests carried out on July 13, bringing the country’s total confirmed infections to 1,040.

A press release from the Ministry, signed by the Director-General of Health Services, Henry Mwebesa, says that 8 of the confirmed infections are from truck drivers, 2 are alerts from Hoima and Kyotera districts and the other case is of a Ugandan who returned from South Africa and was under quarantine at the time the test was done.

27 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were not permitted to enter the country and were instead turned back to the countries they came from.

This means that Uganda has so far carried out 230,680 tests, confirming 1,040 as being positive and of these, 984 have recovered from the disease. There has been no COVID-19 death to date.
