KIU, Main Campus - The Ministry of Health has confirmed 14 new COVID-19 cases in the country on June 10, bringing the total confirmed cases so far to 679.  

According to the ministry, these results were from 2,321 samples that were tested yesterday.

Among these, 6 cases were among the 1,260 samples that were taken from entry border points and 8 cases were among the 1,061 cases were from samples of alerts and contacts.

The ministry confirms that 3 of the new confirmed cases were truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan through Elegu border point, 2 cases were truck drivers who arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula border point and 1 case is also a truck driver who arrived from Lamwo district.

The 8 new cases of alerts and contacts are 3 from Kampala, 2 from Amuru, 2 from Dokolo and1 case from Moyo district.

Additionally, the ministry says that 30 truck drivers also tested positive for COVID-19 and they were handed back to their respective countries of origin. That is Kenya, Tanzania, Eritrea and Burundi.

In its fight against COVID-19, Uganda has so far registered 120 recoveries and no death.
