The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across the African continent, with the World Health Organization’s prediction that the worst for Africa is yet to come seeming like spot-on foresight.
The continent has so far registered 1,157,955 positive cases and 26, 975 deaths meaning that despite 881,590 recoveries, Africa’s fragile health system is still over-burdened by the 249,390 active COVID-19 cases.
Today, we take a look at Uganda’s COVID-19 numbers in the week gone by.
07 – The number of deaths in the past week. This brings the total deaths from COVID-19 to 19.
23 – The number of Ugandan truck drivers who have tested positive
25 – The number of returnees from abroad
54 – The number of recoveries from COVID-19. This brings the total number of recoveries to 1,199
108 – The number of contacts who have tested positive
307 – The number of alerts who have tested positive
463 – The number of new cases, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 1,848
649 – The active cases of COVID-19 currently on admission
28, 052 – The total number of samples tested in the past week, bringing the cumulative number of samples tested so far to 340,844
