KIU, Main Campus - The Indian government has pledged to support Uganda in the fight against Coronavirus.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, said in a tweet on Thursday, 9th April 2020, “Spoke on phone to President Yoweri Museveni about the challenges arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic. India will support, in every way it can, Uganda’s efforts to control the spread of the virus.”

On Wednesday, President Museveni, while addressing the nation on COVID-19, mentioned that he would discuss with the Indians about manufacturing hydroxychloroquine since various scientists across the world have argued that both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine can cure Coronavirus.

Uganda’s total of COVID-19 cases rose to 53 as one new case was confirmed on Wednesday 8th April 2020.
