COVID-19 Updates: South Sudan Vice President and Wife Test Positive for COVID-19

KIU, Main Campus – Yesterday, news broke that South Sudan’s vice president and his wife plus a number of his staff had all tested positive for COVID-19.

"BREAKING: South Sudan’s First Vice President Riek Machar and Defence Minister Angelina Teny (also his wife) plus a number of his staff and bodyguards have tested positive for #Coronavirus. Machar is also heading the country’s high-level task force on #Covid19." Tweeted Rachael Akidi, the Head of East Africa languages at BBC. 

It should be noted that his wife is also the Minister of Defence in the country. 

South Sudan currently has 290 confirmed cases of COVID-19, four deaths, and four recoveries according to Coronavirus Updates
