Uganda has registered its twelfth COVID-19 death on August 13, the Ministry of Health has announced.
The deceased was a 65-year-old male resident of Kampala who was admitted at Nsambya Hospital and later transferred to China-Uganda Friendship Hospital, Naguru after developing signs and symptoms of Coronavirus.
In the same vein, the country also registered 32 new cases of COVID-19 out of the 4,289 samples tested yesterday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,385.
Of the new cases, 6 were truck drivers, 17 alerts, 6 contacts and 3 returnees.
Of the alerts, 10 are from Kampala, 2 from Luweero, 2 from Mbale and one each from Kagadi, Mbale (sic) and Hoima.
Of the contacts, 3 are from Kampala, 2 from Nakaseke and one from Tororo while the returnees are from Kenya (2) and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
19 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were not permitted to enter the country.
Uganda has so far registered 1,145 recoveries and 312,792 samples have been tested since the pandemic began.
