COVID-19 Updates: Uganda’s Positive Cases Reach 3,900 as 124 New Cases and 2 Deaths are Registered

Uganda’s COVID-19 positive cases clocked 3,900 yesterday as the country continued to register new cases in the hundreds, with 2 more deaths being announced by the Ministry of Health.

In its daily COVID-19 update, the ministry announced that 2 men – a 53-year old from Pallisa and a 56-year old from Jinja district – were the 2 COVID-19 fatalities registered in the country yesterday.

Meanwhile, results from the 4,242 samples tested on September 7 showed that the country had registered another 124 positive cases, with alerts and contacts yet again constituting a huge chunk of the daily COVID-19 figures.

105 alerts and contacts were registered, with 37 coming from Kampala, 15 from Wakiso, 11 from Kitgum, 6 from Buikwe, 6 from Masaka, 5 from Kikuube, 4 from Namisindwa, 4 from Pader, 3 from Jinja, 3 from Oyam, 2 from Arua, 2 from Bundibugyo, 2 from Kasese and one case each from Adjumani, Hoima, Kiboga, Mbale and Ngora districts.

The number of infected health workers continued to rise, with 13 cases being registered including 3 from Apac and 2 from Lira. The rest are from Hoima, Tororo, Masaka, Kikuube, Oyam, Jinja, Gulu and Kasese.

2 truck drivers and 4 returnees from Kenya, Rwanda, Oman and Pakistan complete yesterday’s case count.

This means that Uganda has now registered 46 deaths and 1,817 recoveries.
