KIU Holds Orientation for August Intake Postgraduate Students

KIU, Western Campus – The District Governor for the Lions District 411B Uganda Dr. Stanley K. Bubikire visited KIU Western Campus on February 9th, 2024, and took part in various activities organized by the Leos Club of KIU Western Campus.
Dr. Bubikire (in blue tie) was received by the Patron of Leos Club Dr. Jacqueline Muchiri and the President, Mr. Amon Nkwasiibwe.
He then paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KIU Western Campus Assoc. Prof. Eric Mabonga (in brown tie) together with the Leos thanked the University for creating a conducive environment for the Leos Club to operate.
“I thank the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for giving the Leos Club a conducive environment for the Leos to deliver human service to the community and for the effort being put in to bring the Leos Club on board,” Dr. Bubikire said.
They then proceeded to the university compound where they planted the Leos Club signpost and also to the Kampala International University Pharmacy Students Association (KIUPSA) botanical garden where they planted a medicinal plant called Prunus Africana.
Dr. Muchiri thanked KIUPSA for giving them a place to plant the tree and lauded their efforts in researching the many medicinal plants in their botanical garden.
“Tree planting is very important because it helps conserve the environment and it is one of the activities that is in line with the goals of Lions Club International,” Dr. Bubikire added.
The Leos then proceeded to Kizinda town where they engaged in a diabetic run, medical camp, and football match, and introduced “Umughanda” activity in the Bushenyi District.
In the Umhughanda activity, they engaged in cleaning the Kizinda town council led by the District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) and the Chairperson LC 5 for Bushenyi district Annet Mugisha and Jafari Basajjabalaba respectively.
The Leos Club of KIU Western Campus is affiliated with the Lions Club of Bushenyi, which Dr. Bubikire was visiting as part of his obligations as Governor for Lions District 411B Uganda.
