KIU, Western Campus – Dr. Gaylord Inena Wa Inena from KIU Teaching Hospital has recently returned from the World Congress of Dermatology in Singapore.

The World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) is one of the largest international dermatological conferences. It is organized under the auspices of the International League of Dermatological Societies.

Dr Inena is one of the highly qualified Psychiatrist Specialists at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital with extensive experience in Dermatology and has been working to advance the rights of people living with albinism through advocacy and service provision.

At WCD 2023 he made 3 oral presentations and 1 poster on the ongoing work he is doing in DR Congo and studies he has conducted while pursuing a Masters in Psychiatry at KIU Western Campus.

In Singapore, to make a difference, the scientific programming committee developed an entirely new format for this event.

Despite the global threats, the world is moving closer together and the interdependencies are increasing.

In this challenging context, the World Congress of Dermatology 2023 provides the highest quality of global dermatology continuing education as specialists from all over the world, including areas previously underrepresented, will enrich us from different angles.

“It was a pleasure to be part of this congress to learn and share the great work we are doing in the resource-limited settings to improve the lives of people living with albinism. I look forward to contribute in eliminating the skin cancer in my region and empower more champions” said Dr Gaylord.

The WCD aims to promote the science and practice of dermatology, by providing a platform for specialists from around the world to showcase new knowledge, exchange clinical experiences and scientific research, and to build professional and personal networks and collaborations.
