Fighting Coronavirus Together: Ministry of Health COVID-19 Response Boosted With Drugs and PPE

KIU, Western Campus – The Ministry of Health has received drugs and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from the government of India and Fosun Pharma and Phillips Pharmaceuticals Uganda respectively.

According to the ministry, the assortment of medicines from the Government of India was received by the Minister-of-State in charge of Primary Healthcare Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu on September 22. The medicines will reportedly be stocked at various COVID-19 treatment centres. 

Meanwhile, the PPE comprising of 20,000 face masks, 30,000 examination gloves and 129 pieces of infrared thermometers from Fosun Pharma and Phillips Pharmaceuticals, Uganda was received by the Permanent Secretary for the Health Ministry, Dr Diana Atwiine (wearing dress in the picture).

The equipment will come as a boost to the country’s COVID-19 response as more lockdown measures – including the expected return of students in candidate classes to school on October 15 – are lifted.
