KIU, Western Campus – We all have our dreams, different as they may be, and whoever achieves theirs gets a sense of satisfaction that is almost indescribable.

To Derrick Atwine, who is graduating with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health at KIU’s 26th Graduation Ceremony, this is a dream he set out to achieve from the start, which gives him a lot of satisfaction.

“Am too excited, I don't even know how to express it. Only God knows the magnitude of the joy and happiness I feel in my heart, because it’s a dream come true,” an over-the-moon Atwine says.

“First and foremost it has been God, secondly support from the people around me and thirdly patience and being focused to avoid the goal-impeding distractions,” he adds.

He promises not to put his knowledge to waste, revealing that he wants to be a public health educator.

“As a medic I will use the knowledge I have acquired to help ease people’s lives and wellbeing and I will do my best in educating the public about their health so as to create a healthy Uganda,” the raring to go Atwine reveals.

Atwine, who wants to upgrade to Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, sends his special thanks to the people who were his rock while he was pursuing his Diploma.

“I would first of all take this chance to thank my parents Mr. Twesigye Nixon and Mrs. Twesigye Dinah for their support; am really grateful not forgetting my sisters Daniva, Vanessa, Ivet and Melisa plus my brother Amon. I also thank my uncle Dr. Didas Simon and not forgetting my friends Gerald, Duncan, Hellen and others whom I won't mention but deep down am grateful,” an emotional Atwine says.

He advises his fellow graduands to use the acquired knowledge and skills for the betterment of the country and also struggle to make KIU proud.
