KIU, Western Campus – Arkline Twikirize’s watershed moment was when she joined KIU Western Campus in 2018 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Hailing from Kashenyi Town, a place just over 5 kilometers from Ishaka Town and fresh from high school, KIU was always Twikirize’s dream academic destination.

“Because I come from near and grew up in Bushenyi District, I always dreamt about going to KIU because everyone was praising it as a very big and good university,” Twikirize says.

“Even teachers from neighbouring schools were studying from KIU, including quite a few from my own secondary school. So, we were all aware of its reputation which is why I decided to go and study from there,”she adds.

And on Saturday November 11, Twikirize’s dream is coming true. She will be one of the hordes of graduands at KIU’s 26th Graduation ceremony at KIU Main Campus in Kansanga.

“I am very excited to finally graduate despite the many challenges I have gone through while doing my course, notably the COVID-19 lockdown,” Twikirize notes.
She however hails KIU’s “top-of-the-range academic environment for reaching this milestone.

“KIU has a conducive academic environment with good lecturers, classes and the library, which was of aid to me whenever I needed to do research or get a quiet place to read,” she reveals.
She is however quick to add that her hard work in ensuring that she concentrates on her academics undividedly was the main driver behind her success.

Twikirize also says she will be forever grateful to her family, especially her aunt Annet Nabaasa and late grandfather Yorokamu Bukoki for their invaluable support during her course of study.
It is on this point that she promises them to not put hers and their efforts to waste.

“I promise to put the knowledge I have acquired from KIU to the best use, whether in education or any other field or sector I happen to branch to in future,” she promises.

Twikirize advises her fellow graduands to be the best ambassadors for KIU when they join the world outside academics.
