KIU, Western Campus – On Saturday, November 11, Dancan Baketunga will be graduating with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health but all this may not have been possible if KIU had not given him a 50% scholarship, he says.

“I appreciate the management of KIU for the 50% scholarship that has enabled me reach this point of happiness in life that has brought me to a point of shedding tears of joy,” Baketunga says.

“Thanks to that, I am now officially a medical clinical officer. With the skills attained at the mighty KIU, I am able to save patients’ lives,” he adds. 

He says he was able to finish school because of the serious academic schedule at KIU, active lecturers and proper placement strategies in clinical years under the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS).

Baketunga says he couldn’t have completed the course without the assistance of a number of people.

“I would like to thank my parents Nuwabaine Fred and Tusiime Jessica who have been there for me from day one at KIU. I can't mention all they have sacrificed for me," he notes.

“Academically, I thank SAHS lecturers and my closet friends Arimpa Marvin and Luwum George Bruce with whom I shared sleepless nights plus the person who introduced me to KIU  Ndagano Mosses Spencer,” he adds.

Baketunga says he intends to pursue a Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery and then a Masters in gynaecology.

He advises fellow graduands to go to the outside world and continue “exploring the heights” the way they have done at KIU and be good ambassadors.
