KIU Concludes Negotiation WIth Chinese Colleges Under the China Africa Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Project

As a follow-up to an earlier agreement signed with Kampala International University, Mr. Felix Duan, the Director of the China Africa Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Project, and Cathy Gong, Chinese, the Project Manager of Sunmaker Uganda TVET made a visit to Kampala International University on 6th July, 2022.

The agreement will allow KIU to offer 3 years of advanced diploma programmes developed by KIU and Chinese colleges jointly in the following areas: Road and Bridge Engineering Technology, Computer Application Technology, and Automobile Inspection & Maintenance. The programmes will be offered in collaboration with  the Institute of Transportation and Municipal Engineering from Chongqing Jianzhu College, Henan Open University, and Tianjin Zhongwu Education Technology Co Ltd.

According to DVC Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions, Assoc Prof Chukwuemeka Diji, "The improvement and development of African economy necessitates a greater focus on technical and vocational education. Sunmaker's dedication to developing Ugandan youth through training initiatives with Chinese universities and Uganda universities is greatly appreciated"

The KIU Team also made a proposal of opening an independent Chinese Confucius Center that will promote the Chinese language and culture at KIU. Mr. Felix was very glad that KIU is interested in this culture and language exchange program and promised to bring quantified Chinese partners to work together on this proposal.

Also present at the meeting were the Dean of Student Affairs, Schola Busingye, Deputy Director, Directorate of Higher Degrees and Research, Dr. Benson Tukundane, and the Deputy Directors of Marketing and Public Relations, Daniel Mulindwa and Barbara Akello.
