KIU, Western Campus – Peter Alindwamukama always wanted to be a doctor since his Primary School days and he is well on the path to achieve his dream.

And now that the second-year medical student is doing well in medical school, he has set his sights on becoming one of the best medical doctors in the country once he completes his course.

“I have always wanted to be a medical doctor and I am confident that once I finish school, I will go on to be one of the best, if not the best medical doctor in Uganda,” Alindwamukama says.

To better achieve his dreams, Alindwamukama says he decided to join KIU because after consultations, he was told it has a very good medical school.

“I was told by my dad and other friends that to get the best medical training, I should join KIU because all the doctors that he knows who graduated from there are very good,” says, Alindwamukama, whose own dad is a medical doctor.

He says he was vindicated once he joined because according to him, KIU has a good medical facility (KIU Teaching Hospital) as well as superb medical laboratories.

He adds that his studies are moving very well because of the good teachers in his faculty and the good equipment available for training.

Alindwamukama however says COVID-19 is one of the biggest challenges he has faced so far but is quick to add that it also gave him an opportunity to explore other options.

“When COVID-19 came, I thought it would go away quickly but when it persisted, I decided to start up an entertainment business which I maintain up to now,” he reveals.

Alindwamukama says the business has helped him earn some side income as well as creating employment opportunities for his two employees that run the business while he is at school.

He advises his fellow students to keep pushing on no matter what because in persevering, there is success.
