KIU, Western Campus – Julius Magimbi, alias MC Julio, joined KIU in 2018 but at that time, he did not know that only four years later, he would be one of the hottest items on the Ishaka Entertainment scene.

And now, he is the best MC in town and Jupiter Events, his brainchild, is one of the most sought-after events companies in Greater Bushenyi.

Despite all this, the third-year Bachelor of Clinical Medicine and Community Health student is adamant it is just the beginning for him in the events and entertainment industry in Western Uganda.

“Organizing events is my passion and comes naturally. It was hard in the beginning but being also an MC, I got gigs for thefirst two years as I studied the situation in preparation for lifting the lockdown when events would be allowed to happen,” Julio says.

He has been an MC at a number of events, including the KIU Trade Bazaar in 2018, the 2nd Edition of Mr and Miss Nursing, Nina Roz and John Blaq’s concert at Swing Inn Motel in 2019, 2018/2019 Ganda Night, Mr and Miss Pharmacy in 2022, 2019 Cultural Gala, Ykee Benda and Allan Tonix’s concert at Crane Resort in 2022 and several birthdays around Ishaka.

He also successfully held the Mr and Miss Pharmacy contest early this year.

He however says that being a student, studies is his first priority and he has a schedule that accommodates both of his passions – medicine and entertainment.

“I advise my fellow students who also have their own passions to concentrate on their books because an educated person’s future is more secure,” he says.

His five-year vision is to have one of the biggest events companies in Uganda and also own a medical center that will help people through offering quality medical services as well as employment opportunities.

He says he will be always eternally grateful to KIU for creating an environment that allows him to pursue his studies and passion.

“I like KIU and I joined it because it’s the best private university in Uganda and the alumni have had a huge impact wherever they go, and I must say I have not been proven wrong so far,”

During his free time, MC Julio watches movies and listens to music.
