KIU Explorer of the Week: “KIU Has a Strong Focus on Science and Technology,” – Johnson Twinomujuni

KIU, Western Campus – Johnson Twinomujuni, a second-year Diploma in Civil Engineering student, says he joined KIU because the university has a strong focus on science and technology and a reputation for excellence.

Twinomujuni was inspired by his uncle who has built a successful career for himself as a Civil Engineer and to achieve his aim of following in the sane footsteps as the uncle, he chose Uganda’s best private university.

“The university has a strong focus on science and technology, and it provides students with a high-quality education in these fields. This is why I joined,” he says.

“It has diverse and well-equipped laboratories and other facilities for training students and also has a reputation for excellence, not forgetting the opportunities it provides,” he adds.

Twinomujuni, who doubles as the head of Banyankole-Bakiga Students Association, says his decision to join KIU has been justified because he has gained enough knowledge and skills that he intends to use to improve the lives of those in his community.

“I believe that education is a powerful tool for change, and I am committed to using my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact by helping people to make informed decisions and take action to improve their lives,” he asserts.

He reveals that his best moments at KIU are the sense of community among the students and lecturers and the opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities like football and basketball, which have been enriching and unforgettable.

He says he has faced a few challenges like balancing school and his other responsibilities, stress and anxiety, financial challenges and homesickness.

Twinomujuni is grateful to the almighty Lord for the gift of life, his parents who have supported him financially through school and the entire KIU family at large.

He loves playing the guitar because it allows him to express his creativity and relax after a long day of studying plus reading as it allows him to escape into different worlds and learn about new places and people.
