KIU Former Director of Research, Professor Francisca Oladipo Appointed VC Thomas Adewumi University, Nigeria

KIU, Main Campus - The former Director of Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extensions (RICE), Prof Francisca Oladipo has been appointed the Vice-Chancellor, Thomas Adewumi University, Nigeria. The appointment was announced by the University Board, following a unanimous vote in favour of her appointment.

In a statement by the Chancellor of the University 

"She is a natural! She identifies with our vision and is ready to implement our mission! The founding fathers of the university are excited by this appointment and cannot wait to see the global impact of having Francisca at the helm of affairs.” 

“I warmly welcome this opportunity to co-create with all the critical stakeholders to realize the vision of the founders of Thomas Adewumi University through the delivery of accessible, student-centered education in Science, Technology, and Medicine."

In her statement, Prof. Oladipo thanked the board for giving the opportunity to provide academic leadership and promote excellence in teaching and research.

"I am grateful to the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council of the university for finding me worthy of this appointment and I am committed to providing stellar academic leadership and promoting excellence in teaching and research. The goal is to position Thomas Adewumi University as a world-class academic hub that supports staff and students in conducting cutting-edge teaching and learning as well as research that solves the problems of our society"

Oladipo is a Professor of Computer Science at Federal University Lokoja, Nigeria, and is currently the Director of Quality Assurance. She was the first female member of the University’s Governing Council from 2018-2020 and the first female Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University. Prof Oladipo also serves as the Executive Coordinator of Virus Outbreak Data Network Africa (VODAN-Africa), a Fellow of the Pan-Africa Scientific Research Council, and the International Projects Synergy and Support Lead, for the NUFFIC Regional and Ethiopia Projects for KIU, and Dutch Partners.

Prof Oladipo brings to this position her rich experience as an innovator, researcher, and multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving.
