By Isaac Akugizibwe

KIU, Main Campus-Ezra Nuwahoora, the Chairperson of the 2023-2024 KIU Guild Union Electoral Commission has released a list of successfully nominated candidates running for member of parliament across all colleges and schools.

The list indicates stiff completion in the school of law with seven candidates now cleared to contest for the available four positions. Linda Namaganda Christo, Enock Ssebamala, Godfrey Agaba, Monday Stephen, George Talemwa, Crispus Muyabe and Annet Atuhaire have all been granted a go-ahead to compete for the rights of representing the school of law in the next KIU Guild Union Parliament.

The absence of Colleb Katirima on the final list means it is only Monday Stephen and Annet Atuhaire who still have a chance to still compete for Guild Presidency. The two alongside Colleb have been open about running for the student’s union highest office.

Only four individuals have qualified from the School of Economics and Management. They include; Nicholas Mbazaire, Keneth Kahasha, Viola Nakatudde, and Titwe Martin.

Unlike before, competition in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences has hit a record low with only three candidates passing eligible to contest for the available four positions. Daniel Nuwataho, Christopher Kingi and Shallot Niwagaba are the likely candidates on the ballot. Guild President aspirant, Jimmy Akanshemeza is nowhere to be seen.
