KIU, Main Campus – Being an all-university side game, yesterday’s Women Tusker Lite National Basketball League game between KIU Rangers and Nkumba Lady Marines was never going to be an easy one.

And it took an inspired display from Ines Kanyamunza to get the Rangers over the line, against an inspired Nkumba side.

Kanyamunza, who was also voted the player of the game, scored a game-high 14 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds as the Rangers overcame their varsity rivals 63-52 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The win means KIU Rangers have now won their first three games of the season, after wins against KCCA Leopards and A1 challenge in their opening two fixtures.

The win will bolster Rangers’ hopes of mounting a title challenge this season, and it remains to be seen whether they can keep cool heads and conjure up consistent results.

But for the time being, all is well in the Rangers’ camp.
