KIU, Main Campus - Doreen Kiconco, a second-year postgraduate student of Mass Communication at KIU has vowed to use music to turn the Youth to God.

Kiconco, commonly known by her stage name Doreen Gift, released her very first single titled "Erinya" in July. She says her main intention is to spread the word of God through music, with transforming the youth into God-fearing people her priority.

"My major purpose is lifting and elevating the word of God through music. I intend to concentrate on spreading the word of God and bringing many people especially the youth to Him," Kiconco discloses.

When asked about balancing music and her academic career, Kiconco said that she will allot time to each activity as guided by the bible in the book of Ecclesiastes.

"As the bible tells us in Ecclesiastes chapter three, there is time for everything. I will have time for my profession and music career respectively," she says.

Kiconco started singing when she was a teenager in Sunday school from where she advanced to different church choirs. She maintains that her main motivation is the "zeal to serve and worship God".

Besides singing, Kiconco is preparing to write her research dissertation to fulfill a partial requirement for her  Master’s of Science in Mass Communication at KIU.
