The Vice-Chancellor of Kampala International University Dr. Mouhammad Mpezamihigo will today deliver the keynote address at the 11th Social Business Day 2021, a ground-breaking idea of social business organized by the Yunus Center and hosted by Nobel Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus.

The annual international event is a family gathering of all social business practitioners, academics, promoters, and friends and it provides a platform which brings people together to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas and gain energy from one another by inspiring each other.

According to the Yunus Center, every year, Social Business Day is organized to discuss and celebrate the groundbreaking idea of social business.

“We have an exciting lineup of Plenary Sessions covering the key areas of social business where experts of related fields will come together to provide insights and updates,” reads a brief on the website.

According to business website investopedia.com,a social business or social enterprise is defined as a business that has specific social objectives that serve its primary purpose. Social enterprises seek to maximize profits while maximizing benefits to society and the environment. Their profits are principally used to fund social programs.

KIU Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extension Prof. Jude Diji Chukwuemeka will also be one of the speakers at the event, as well as Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Executive Director Winnie Byanyima.
