KIU’s Dr. Alone Kimwise’s Experience at the 11th Annual UMU Research Conference

The Associate Dean for Research at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Kampala International University; Dr. Alone Kimwise recently had a professionally rewarding experience socializing and networking at close proximities with other researchers and practitioners from the East African region at the 11th Annual UMU Research Conference held on 22nd January 2020 at the Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Nkozi Campus under the theme of "Innovative Teaching and Learning for Higher Education in Change Times".

The conference was aimed at providing an opportunity for researchers in the industry and academia, as well as postgraduate teachers and students, to share experiences in best practices in higher education within the region and beyond. Universities like UMU, KIU, Daystar University, Makerere University, and Nkumba University were in attendance.

Dr. Kimwise led a multidisciplinary team of Researchers from Uganda and Rwanda to present the experiences of conducting a research on the ‘Impact of E-learning and Multimedia Technology on Learner Performance in Mathematics and changes in changes in Basic Health Behaviors in Nakivale Refugee Settlement.’

“I thoroughly enjoyed the one day spent with the crop of international colleagues and experienced scholars from different research areas,” said Dr. Kimwise, “The conference was well-organized with several informative talks centered around contemporary topics in higher education and training. I look forward to more of such opportunities.”
