KIU Holds Orientation for August Intake Postgraduate Students

KIU, Western Campus – Sixteen KIU students have been selected for the United Nations Academic Impact and Millenium Fellowship Project, a semester-long leadership development program on universities aimed at taking students’ social impact to the next level.
The students, the majority of whom are Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery students include Patience Naluyima, Shalom Omondo, Frank Ronald Ocero, Alex Ssewaya, Enock Wasswa, Phillipa Aturinda, Ian Shalom Kironde, Richard Kikondo, Richard Kironde, Emmanuel Ameh, Catherine Namulindwa, Lily Rhoda Auma, Hajarah Namuyingo, Steven Lubega, Allan Oinebye, Brighton Asingwire and Haron Olot.
Each of the fellows has a project which they are supposed to use as a tool of making social impact. Some of them include;
1. Combating communicable diseases in rural areas as a strategy to enhance healthcare sector funding," for Brighton Asingwire.
2. "Changing health through lifestyle" - Allan Oinebye.
3. Mental Health reaching out to 10 universities to provide basic mental health services and bridge the gap, to ensure availability of therapy services – Shalom Omondo.
4. Sexual and Reproductive Health Education – Frank Ronald Ocero.
5. Reducing antibiotics resistance – Enock Wasswa.
6. AMR and imental health – Alex Ssewaya.
7. AMR Awareness to the Layman – Phillipa Aturinda.
8. Mental Health – Ian Shalom Kironde.
9. Love To All – Richard Kikondo.
10. iMental Club – Emmanuel Ameh.
11. Raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance in local communities and among school going children – Catherine Namulindwa.
12. Health sensitization – Lily Rhoda Auma.
13. Mental Health Awareness and Therapy – Hajarah Namuyingo.
14. Antimicrobial Resistance In Uganda – Steven Lubega (in the picture)
