KIU, Western Campus – KIU Medical student Michael Jemba Senkolle has been selected as a Millennium Fellow for the Millenium Fellowship Class of 2022.

The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program created by the United Nations for undergraduate students to improve partnership building and community impact skills.

It is a movement of social impact student leaders committed to making the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and principles reality by 2030 and takes place on select University campuses in various parts of the world.
Millennium Fellows convene to learn from and challenge each other.

The news was communicated to Jemba through an email from Sam Vaghar, the Executive Director for the Millenium Campus Network (MCN), which Jemba shared with this website.

“Congratulations! We are thrilled to share that you have been selected as a Millennium Fellow for the Class of 2022. The Admissions Committee was impressed by your application and those of others on your campus,” reads the email in part.

“This is a testament to your vision, leadership, and work. We see tremendous potential in what you can contribute to your peers and this movement, and in turn what you can gain to strengthen your leadership, your Fellowship Project, and the communities you care about,” it adds.

The application process for the Class of 2022 was very competitive, with more than 30,000 applicants from more than 2,400 campuses across 140 nations.

200 campuses worldwide (just 8%) have been selected to host the more than 3,000 Millennium Fellows in 2022.

Some of the benefits from the Fellowship include; a Certificate of recognition from United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network, training and coaching, a network of worldwide leaders, experience in community social change and access to an international community platform.

Jemba is a vibrant youth leader and is also a member of the KIU Missionary Doctors who were recently involved in a partnership that opened up a health center in Kamuli District.

We wish you the best in this year’s Fellowship Class Jemba.
