KIU, Main Campus - The Ministry of Health (MOH) has emphasized full vaccination of teachers and non-teaching staff against COVID-19 to pave way for reopening of schools and other learning institutions.

This procedure is aimed at ensuring maximum protection of students upon reopening of schools.

"All teachers and non-teaching staff, please ensure that you get fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This will enable the opening up of schools as soon as possible," tweeted the Ministry of Health in a notice issued on 31st August, 2021.

The ministry further advised teachers and non-teaching staff to find out from their respective District Health Offices or District Education Offices to know where COVID-19 vaccination exercise is taking place in their districts.

Since this exercise is free, safe and effective in preventing severe disease, hospitalization and death, the school service providers have been encouraged not to miss the golden opportunity to protect themselves, their families, students and loved ones from COVID-19.

This notice comes after Uganda recently received an additional 128,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the government of Norway under the dose-sharing arrangement.
