KIU, Main Campus - As part of the KIU’s effort to strengthen international relations and collaborations, our Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mouhammad Mpezamihigo on Thursday 4th March 2020, hosted the Rector, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey, Prof. Dr. Bunyamin SAHIN, Prof. Dr. Kubilay OZYER, the International Relations Coordinator, and Ogr. Gor. A. Serhat, the International Student’s Coordinator.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the Rector and his team on the achievement of KIU in achieving educational inclusion in East Africa. The university is tirelessly advancing the study of Clinical Medicine, Biomedical Science, and Engineering through the state-of-the-art facilities at KIU University Teaching Hospital and the ultra-modern Faculty of Engineering Science, both at the Western Campus at Ishaka.

He also noted that KIU is maintained her position as the leading private university in Uganda in terms of ranking, academic programmes and is the number one destination for international students in the country.

The Rector, Prof. Dr. Bunyamin SAHIN told the Vice-Chancellor that the purpose for their visit was to seek areas of support and collaborations between Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey and Kampala International University. According to him, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey currently supports student and staff exchange programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The DVC Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions (RICE), Prof. Chukwuemeka Diji added that KIU would be interested in the areas of staff exchange and conference. 

Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey has international agreements with 84 foreign universities around the world. This new partnership in view will avail KIU researchers and students the opportunities to interact and work with researchers from Turkey on various projects that will benefit Africa and Europe. Also, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University will provide accommodation, feeding, and engagement with faculty staff.

Other members of the delegation were Hamza Kyeyune, a seasoned broadcast and print journalist, Adekunle Badmus, and Ernest Mungai from Goodmus Learning Center Limited.
