KIU, Main Campus - Uganda's cumulative registered cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 41,000 mark as 54 new cases, bringing the total number of 41,016 infections.
The 54 new infections were confirmed out of the 3,904 samples tested on Friday and Saturday for the novel Coronavirus, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
"A total of 40,452 patients have recovered and 335 deaths have been registered since the index case was reported in the country on March 22, last year," the statement said.
At least 103,036 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since the vaccination campaign was launched last month.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, government had instituted a series of anti-virus measures and later lifted them including lifting a ban on the suspeded public transport, worship places, and education institutions. However some measures were retained like 9pm-5am curfew, and the closure of bars, casinos, and gyms.
