The Uganda business community has lost two influential personalities in the space of three days to COVID-19.

Everest Kayondo (in the photo), the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) Chairperson breathed his last on Wednesday, June 23 at Lifeline International Hospital in Zzana, Kampala while the Executive Director of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) Gideon Badagawa died on Monday, June 21 at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

The deaths of the leaders of two of the most important institutions in the Kampala business community will come as a big blow to a sector that is still trying to come to terms with the impact that the first wave of COVID-19 dealt to it.

At a time when the entire business community in Uganda especially in Kampala was trying to get onto its feet, a second and more vicious wave of the killer virus has dealt the mothers of all blows, not only dragging businesses back to the ground but also now claiming the lives of its stalwarts.
