Programme Overview
The mission of KIU Guidance and counseling degree program is to provide high-quality learning experiences to students, helping them become reliable professional counselors who strive for individual excellence and contribute to an enhanced quality of life in local, national, and regional societies. Curriculum is hereby selected with a zeal of training students who will have a strong base of knowledge and skills to practice effectively in a variety of careers in the field of mental health and human service, educational institutions, private practice, and government, business, organizational/industrial settings. It is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, practice, and skills for working with individuals, couples, children, families, and groups in a variety of mental health settings.The BA in guidance and counseling professional degree program offers emphases in clinical mental health counseling; Individual, group, and child counseling; school counseling; family life counseling; and community counseling.
What You Will Learn
By the end of the programme, students are expected to demonstrate the knowledge, practical skills and professional conduct required for effective work in Guidance and Counseling.

The learning experience is organised to move students from foundational knowledge into applied, supervised and professionally oriented practice.
Foundation stage
Students build the conceptual base needed for progression in Guidance and Counseling.
Core discipline stage
The programme deepens knowledge through core courses and guided academic work.
Applied learning stage
Students connect theory to practical cases, projects or field-related tasks.
Research and analysis
The curriculum develops inquiry, evidence use and analytical capability.
Professional preparation
Students consolidate learning for employment, entrepreneurship, service or further study.

Admission Requirements
The University Regulations and Guidelines for Bachelors of Kampala International University shall will apply with regard to application, registration, examinations, research and graduation. A student will be required to take counseling foundation courses in addition to other relevant courses as will be shown in the preceding pages.
An applicant must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Guidance and Counseling Programme.
Candidates admitted to the programme must be holders of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent, at least two principle passes in the relevant subjects.
Either
Holdersof relevant diplomas in related subjects from Kampala International University or any other recognized institutions will be legible for admission to the degree course. Or
A holder of any other qualification accepted by the University Senate in consultation with the National Council for Higher Education.
Enrollment Types
The shall be four categories of enrollments as follows;
Full time day enrolled students; who shall attend classes from 8:00am to 4:00pm from Monday to Friday.
Part time evening enrolled students; who shall attend classed between classes between 5:00pm to 10:00pm from Monday to Friday. Part time weekend enrolled students: who shall attend classed between classes from 8:00am to 06:00pm on Saturday and Sundays.
Fees and Application Guidance
Tuition, functional fees and any programme-specific charges are confirmed by KIU Admissions and Finance for each intake. Applicants should review the current fee schedule before submitting an application.
